I never really bothered with these journal entries before; I've always been all about the art, but I wanted to give an update to any of my followers (thanks by the way, you guys!) who think I may have dropped off the face of the earth or am no longer crafting.
My 94 year-old grandmother has been suffering from Dementia for the past 10+ years. About 2 1/2 years ago it became apparent that she should no longer be left unattended. Frankly I had seen that coming but had been hesitant in dropping everything to move in with her. Ultimately that's what I ended up doing. I'm happy to report that her physical health has greatly improved, and while there's no cure for Dementia and no way to reverse any of its damaging effects, my grandmother is quite stable, is enjoying her life, and usually comes out with something bizarre that makes me giggle on a daily basis.
The down-side to the situation is that my social life is essentially non-existent. I am able to get away for little breaks here and there (like right at this moment), but am otherwise on-call 24/7 (video baby monitor at my bedside to alert me when my grandmother has wandered out of bed at 3 in the morning, etc.). This leaves little to no time to work on my beloved jewelry-making (plastic canvas creations are a little easier to drop at a given moment when I'm needed elsewhere). I AM continuing to sketch the zillions of ideas I have, so with any luck I'll be able to create some of those in the near(ish) future.
For the time being, I hope you all enjoy re-looking through my gallery. I'm (slowly) uploading photos of some of my other work that I never got around to posting here before, so you can look forward to that as well. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing what my fellow Deviants are creating; your talent really is quite inspiring!
